UMass Lowell Concerts-- Unifying Students

This article was published in the UMass Lowell school newspaper, 'The Connector.' It discusses concerts unifying students at the university. The article also brings awareness to discounted tickets available to college students. Additionally, it talks about how the social aspect of college can be beneficial as it provides stress relief and a chance to make connections with others. The interviews with the event coordinators are the most important part of this article. The interviews took place in the Tsongas Center and were the first professional interviews I'd ever conducted. The intended audience members are primarily UMass Lowell students who can reap the benefits of these discounted tickets.

Western Ave Studio Serves Great Brews-- And Good Times

Lowell, MA is now known as a college town due to its ever expanding campus. Non residents don't know about all of the authentic amenities and shops that Lowell provides to its citizens and visitors. Downtown and Western Ave provide art galleries, coffee shops, exquisite food, book shops, home made goods, and so on. The goal of this article was to bring awareness to all of the unique aspects that this city has to offer. The audience is geared toward students in the area who would like to explore Lowell's finest attributes. This article was submitted to the school newspaper.

During my junior year at UMass Lowell in my "Writing About Women" class, we created a website about women's resistance in history. Each student researched an influential woman, gathered the facts, and told her story. Our class compiled a blog that we created for Lowell High School students to read and respond to. Essentially it was a college course engaging with nearby high school students. The audience is not only Lowell High students, but any scholar interested in women's history. I chose Lucretia Mott because I felt that she was instrumental in boycotting slavery, but never got the recognition that she deserved.

Celebrities Role in Social Change

The goal of this article is to discuss the "Me Too" movement and the role that celebrities play with regard to social change. Living in the digital age, it's important to recognize the significance that social media plays in today's society. A hashtag is the new way of spreading an idea. #MeToo has an entire movement behind two words. Exploring how celebrities influence the pubic and help people understand the world we live in and the role individuals can play. This academic paper was written in a capstone course intended for an audience of academia. The audience should want to learn more about a recent event that is impactful and has some history too. This article is not published but should be submitted to an outlet such as: Hippocampus Magazine or even something less academic like The Thought Catalog.
